Message of Mr. Amadeo Francis, IAAF Vice-President, Chairman of Development
Commission

I am
personally very pleased and impressed with the performance of the Moscow RDC and
the significant contributions that the Center is making to spreading technical,
administrative and other competencies to our Member Federations.
Initially conceived as a center that would primarily serve the athletic
community in Eastern Europe, the compass of your activities now extends to all
of our European Members. The links between Moscow RDC and the EAA's Development
Commission are critical to the realization of EAA President Wirz's urgent plea
that all our Members pay close attention to their base and work more closely
together to strengthen their technical competencies through the active exchange
of information, experiences and materials.
You stand to play a critical role in this effort.
Finally, let me compliment you on your extensive translation efforts, thus
making our Constitution, our Competition rules, our Athletics World Plan and so
many other valuable publications available to the wide community that have a
competence in your mother tongue.
Keep up the good work!
Amadeo I.D. Francis

Welcome from Sergey Bubka,
IAAF Council Member,
Chairman of the Board of Directors, IAAF Moscow Regional Development Centre
IAAF Moscow Regional Development Centre was opened practically 6 years ago.
Since that time Moscow RDC has completed quite a number of activities, i.e.:
-
26 Seminars and
Courses on different topics, attended by over 600 representatives from 50
countries of Europe and Central Asia;
-
in the last 3
years almost 600 representatives from 20 European, Asian and African countries
enjoyed annual training camps and the opportunity to take part in the
international competitions for young athletes under “Joint Sports Project”;
-
over 50 books and
manuals containing translation of the main IAAF and EAA documents, as well as
methodological materials have been issued in the said period;
The 44th IAAF Congress, which took place in Paris in August 2003,
adopted the “World Athletic Plan”, which defined main trends of development of
our sports for the coming decade. I should like to express my confidence that
Moscow RDC together with the National Member Federations will play a prominent
role in the realization of this Plan.
It would be desirable, if Moscow RDC could pay more attention to the
significance of the coaches’ role and qualification and fruitful work with the
newly appointed IAAF Coaching Commission.
I
should like to welcome opening of the new modern Website of the Moscow RDC and
hope that its permanent updating will contribute to further development of our
sports, improvement of the level of preparation and knowledge of our athletes,
coaches, administrators and officials.
