Training camp in the ATC “Koncha-Zaspa”

    In accordance with the Plan of activities of the IAAF Moscow Regional Development Centre a training camp for young throwers and their coaches was held in the ATC “Koncha – Zaspa”  (Kiev, Ukraine) in the period of May 18-31, 2008. It was attended by 20 athletes  born in 1988 – 1991 (12 boys and 8 girls) and 10 coaches (8 Men and 2 Women), who represented 9 countries: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine.

He program of the training camp included:

    - joint training sessions under leaderships of the coaches working for ATC “Koncha – Zaspa”;

    - participation in two competitions – May 19-21 and 29-31;

    - «Master Classes» by Evgeny Korsak, coach of Olympic Champion Yuri Belonog, and by Dmitry Kovtsun, finalist of Olympic Games

A number of high performances were demonstrated in the course of the competition:

    - Nikita Nesterenko (Ukraine, U18) achieved top world performance among boys under 18 in discus throwing (weight  1.5 kg) – 77.50  m and record of Ukraine in Shot Put (weight 5kg) – 22.44m;

    - Galina Mitiaeva (Tajikistan, U18) – Hammer throw – 59.37 m.

    - Tatyana Bem (Kazakhstan, U18) – Hammer throw – 53.50 m

    Over half of the young athletes improved their personal records in the course of the competitions.
